She attended Smith College before heading to the University of Massachusetts where she earned her master’s degree in education. Yolen was born and raised in New York City. Her most famous work is The Devil’s Arithmetic, a Puffin Modern Classic. Some of her best known work is the Pit Dragon Chronicles series of books.
